Honoring Gary Foxen

In 1999, suffering from severe emphysema, Gary Foxen received a lung transplant. A couple years later, Gary wrote a letter originally suggesting the entry of a Donate Life-themed float in the Rose Parade as “a way to repay society for this wonderful gift” of life. Gary was honored with the Coalition on Donation’s James M. Wolf Award for his “inspiration and commitment to increasing organ and tissue donation”. End of 2014, Gary Foxen lost his battle to cancer. A beautiful yellow rose honors Gary’s memory on the 2015 Donate Life Float, a man who left an incredible legacy, which gives our community an opportunity to honor those who have been impacted by donation and transplantation and to educate millions of viewers of the parade.
