5 Year old Mia Gonzalez, suffering from a double aortic arch, becomes a medical success story when a Stratasys Ltd. 3D printed model of her heart guides the physicians to the best course of surgical action.

The rare heart condition, which is sometimes misdiagnosed as asthma, involves a complex structure of vasculature wrapped around the trachea or esophagus. Surgeons at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami were able to print a 3D model of Mia’s heart, allowing the team to clearly visualize the complex structure and prepare the surgery strategy more effectively.
